In the subject line of your email notice, be sure to identify your unit and whether the notice is for a meeting or event. Obviously, Cub Scouts, Crews, Ships, and Posts will change "Boy Scout Troop" as necessary. Like all detective work, you need to know the five W's: Who, What, When, Where, and Why. In the cases where you are requesting a reporter or photographer, when will it occur. Where - Where was your meeting or event Why - What did you do at the meeting, or event End the notice with three # symbols: # # # After the closing symbols, include the name and contact information so the Advance editor or reporter can contact them to verify or clarify the notice. Example: Boy Scout Troop 123 had its weekly troop meeting on Thursday, September 20th, at Our favorite Church, in My Town. At the meeting, the boys checked the troop's camping equipment in preparation for their first camping trip of the year, on the second weekend in Octiober.
